Meals-on- Wheels?

Meal-on-Wheels of New Rochelle is focused on residents, regardless of age or income, who are confined to their homes and have no reliable means for maintaining a healthy diet. A daily MOWNR delivery of nourishing food helps these home-bound men and women remain independent and in their own homes for as long as possible. Daily meal delivery with a smile by a friendly and caring volunteer helps reduce client isolation and can reassure and comfort families who may live far from loved ones or cannot be available every day.  The Meals-on-Wheels volunteer visit also serves as a daily safety check.

Meals-on-Wheels of New Rochelle volunteers deliver a hot mid-day meal (an optional sandwich and salad is also available for a cold supper if needed) to:

• Frail elderly men and women who are homebound, alone and unable to shop or cook for themselves.

• Homebound individuals of any age who are alone and without anyone in the immediate area to assist with meal preparation on a regular basis

• Those who need help on a short-term basis, transitioning from rehab to home, after hospitalization, accident or illness.
